Vikings Split Sophomore Day Doubleheader to Close 2026 Season
The Vikings wrapped up the 2026 campaign on sophomore day against Columbia Basin College, honoring their second-year players by rolling out primarily all-sophomore lineups throughout the day. With the playoff picture already decided, the afternoon served as a celebration of the program's veteran leaders and their contributions over the past two seasons.
Game one proved to be a difficult start for BBCC as the Hawks surged early and never looked back, handing the Vikings a 16-5 loss by run rule. Despite the setback, sophomore infielder Ryley Doig provided a bright spot in the opener, going 1-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs in the loss.
Looking to end the season on a positive note, the Vikings responded in a big way in game two. BBCC's offense exploded for 13 runs as the Vikings outslugged the Hawks for a 13-9 victory to close the season.
Doig continued his tremendous sophomore day performance, finishing game two 3-for-5 with six RBIs, giving him an incredible 10 RBIs across the doubleheader. Ricardo Leon Guerrero, AJ Glenn, and Jaime Ruelas all contributed multiple-hit performances as the Vikings powered their way to the season-ending win.
The victory capped off the 2026 season on a high note while giving the sophomore class a memorable sendoff in their final games as Vikings.
