Big Bend volleyball's postseason dreams took a hard turn on Wednesday night on the road at Columbia Basin in the form of a five-set loss, 3-2. The Vikings will now need some help from the team that just beat them if they are going to sneak into the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) playoffs.

The loss means that Big Bend (17-13, 7-8) must win in its regular-season finale Friday night against Walla Walla (18-15, 8-6) and the Warriors must lose their own regular-season finale to Columbia Basin on the road on Wednesday.

The good news is that CBC has already defeated the Warriors earlier this season (3-2), but the bad news is Walla Walla shutout Big Bend earlier in the season (3-0).

The foreshadowing has pointed for the last few weeks to Friday's match with WWCC as the deciding factor to Big Bend's postseason berth. So no matter what, the blue and green were going to have to pick up a win over the Warriors — now they will also need another Walla Walla loss to make that happen.

During Wednesday's loss, Sadie Nielsen led the Vikings' offense with 14 kills with Elli Rodgers and Brynn McKnight adding 13 and 11 respectively. Defensively Ashlee Adams 37 digs.

Friday's game against Walla Walla begins at 6 p.m. and can be streamed live on the NWAC Sports Network: HERE.
