With five matches remaining in their regular-season schedule, the Lady Vikings volleyball team is currently sitting solo in the fourth and final playoff spot in the Northwest Athletic Conference's (NWAC) East Region. Big Bend swept Wenatchee Valley on Friday night — for the third time this season — winning its second consecutive conference match and improving to 16-10 overall and 6-5 in the NWAC.

Brynn McKnight led the Lady Vikings with 13 kills and Sadie Nielsen and Payson Griner added 9 and 8 kills, respectively. Martina Wilder had a team-high 17 assists and Ashlee Adams had 12 digs.

Although BBCC is nestled into the fourth position over Walla Walla (4-5 in NWAC) two big factors are in play. First, the Warriors still have seven matches remaining on their schedule — four of which are against teams they have already defeated earlier in the season.

Second, one of those will be a rematch against the Vikings (Nov. 8 to close out the season). It's a very real possibility that both BBCC and Walla Walla could both finish at 8-8 in conference play. Big Bend really needs to earn a win over the Warriors to even up the head-to-head record against the two teams. Walla Walla swept Big Bend on Oct. 11th.

But before those scenarios can play out, Big Bend has to host a tough Spokane (26-1 and 9-1) team on Wednesday night at home, followed by a road trip to Blue Mountain on Friday. After that, BBCC will get a full week off before closing out the regular season Nov. 2 (at Treasure Valley), Nov. 6 (at Columbia Basin), and Nov. 8 (hosting Walla Walla.
