Men's Wrestling Battles Hard Against Top-Ranked North Idaho College

BBCC Men's Wrestling hosted the top-ranked North Idaho College Cardinals in a highly anticipated dual meet. Understanding the significance of this matchup as they edge closer to Nationals, the Vikings knew they had their work cut out for them.

Despite facing tough competition, several BBCC wrestlers delivered standout performances. Simon Cervantes secured a hard-fought decision win at 133 pounds, showcasing his resilience and technique. The match of the night belonged to Alexander Barajas, who dominated his opponent at 149 pounds, earning a technical superiority victory.

However, even with these impressive individual efforts, BBCC fell to NIC with a final score of 35-20. The Vikings were forced to forfeit matches at 125 and 285 pounds, while NIC forfeited at 174 and 184 pounds, affecting the overall team score.

Head Coach Daviaire Dickerson reflected on the dual, stating, "NIC is a really good team, and it's great to have the opportunity to dual with them both home and away every year. As we get closer to Nationals and the level of competition rises, basics and attention to detail become even more critical."

Up next for the Vikings is the Region 18 Conference, set for Sunday, February 9th, at North Idaho College. This pivotal event will determine who advances to Nationals, scheduled for March 8-9 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
