Lady Vikings Pull Away Late to Defeat Walla Walla, Remain Atop Eastern Region
Currently sitting at the top of the Eastern Region, the Lady Vikings faced off against the second-seeded Walla Walla Warriors in a highly anticipated matchup. BBCC found itself in uncharted territory at halftime, trailing 22–19 after a low-scoring and defensive first half.
The Lady Vikings looked to regain control coming out of the break but were unable to tie the game at 35 by the end of the third quarter, as Walla Walla continued to hang tough. That momentum shifted dramatically in the final period.
Big Bend dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring the Warriors 25–11 to pull away and secure a convincing 60–46 victory.
Neither team shot the ball particularly well on the night, but the Lady Vikings did just enough offensively while locking in on the defensive end. BBCC finished the game shooting 38 percent from the floor while holding Walla Walla to just 31 percent.
Brooke Warren led the way for the Lady Vikings, recording an impressive double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds while also dishing out five assists. Warren's efficient 8-for-12 shooting performance powered Big Bend to its seventh conference win, improving the Lady Vikings to 7–1 in conference play.
With the win, BBCC continues to hold its spot atop the Eastern Region standings. The Lady Vikings now prepare to hit the road this Saturday as they travel to Treasure Valley Community College to face off against the Chukars.
