Lady Vikings Grind Out Defensive Win Over Wenatchee Valley
Currently sitting at 19–2 overall and 5–1 in conference play, the Lady Vikings looked to strengthen their grip on the Eastern Region as they faced Wenatchee Valley College on January 28.
The matchup turned into a defensive slugfest, with neither team finding much rhythm offensively. Both sides struggled from the field, but BBCC's defense proved to be the difference. The Lady Vikings held the Knights to just 31% shooting, while BBCC managed 23% of their own.
Where the game was ultimately decided was at the free-throw line. The Lady Vikings showed tremendous defensive discipline, allowing Wenatchee Valley just six free-throw attempts for the game. On the other end, BBCC consistently attacked the basket and capitalized, knocking down 20 of their 24 free throws. That disparity at the stripe proved to be the deciding factor.
Oaklie Jackman delivered a standout performance, leading all scorers with 22 points while pulling down 10 rebounds for yet another double-double. Jackman was especially clutch at the line, converting 15 of her 16 free-throw attempts and setting the tone throughout the night.
With the win, the Lady Vikings improve to 6–1 in conference play and continue to build momentum. They will look to keep things rolling as they return home to host Walla Walla Community College this upcoming Saturday.
