Lady Vikings Stay Perfect with Sweep at Whatcom Crossover

The Big Bend women's basketball team traveled north this past weekend to compete in the Whatcom Crossover Tournament, where they continued their impressive start to the season. The Lady Vikings turned in a clean sweep of the tournament, extending their winning streak and improving to 9–0 on the year.

BBCC opened tournament play on Friday, December 12th, against Centralia Community College and made an immediate statement. The Lady Vikings controlled the game from start to finish, defeating the Trailblazers 73–49. Oaklie Jackman and Brooke Warren each scored 16 points, with Jackman also recording a double-double by pulling down 11 rebounds to go along with her scoring effort.

Big Bend followed that performance with a dominant showing against tournament host Whatcom. The Lady Vikings never let up, cruising to a 76–56 victory. Jackman posted her second consecutive double-double, finishing with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Oakley Homer provided strong support with 17 points and six rebounds in the win.

BBCC closed out the weekend against Southwest Oregon in what proved to be their most competitive game of the tournament. Despite the tighter contest, the Lady Vikings remained composed and earned a 64–51 victory. Four players reached double figures in the scoring column, with Oaklie Jackman, Claire Cox, Oakley Homer, and Kaliyah Evans all contributing double-digit points.

With little time to rest, the Lady Vikings now turn their attention to the Roadrunner Classic, which begins Wednesday, December 17. BBCC will face Clackamas, Linn-Benton, and Mount Hood in a three-game set as they look to keep their unbeaten season rolling.
