The Lady Vikes looked like they were on their way to a win in their conference opener Thursday night on the road at North Idaho however, they were unable to score in the game's final two minutes allowing the Lady Cardinals a comeback victory, 67-62.
Big Bend held a 7-point lead in the fourth quarter after Madi Fillmore dropped a pair of free throws with 3:43 remaining. At, the 2:03 mark they still led by six, 62-56, after a pair of free throws by Anna Yarbro but the Lady Vikes would be unable to put any more points on the board and NIC closed out the contest with an 11-0 run for the win.
Yarbro led BBCC offensively scoring 17 points and turned in another great night on the boards with 13 rebounds. Fillmore and Kayla Luke added 14 and 12 points respectively in the losing effort.
The Lady Vikings committed 24 turnovers (NIC only 6) in the contest but dominated the boards by a 41-25 margin.
Big Bend will be back in action searching for its first NWAC win on Saturday afternoon when the host East Region rival Spokane. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
