Big Bend softball had two close calls on Friday at Columbia Basin College and then had a little more breathing room on Saturday afternoon at Yakima Valley en route to completing a four-game Northwest Athletic Conference East Region sweep on the road. With the four wins, the Vikings improve their season mark to 15-3 and 9-1 in the conference.
Big Bend 6, Columbia Basin 5
Lynsey Valverde came up big in the clutch for the Vikings blasting an eventual game-winning home run in the top of the seventh. The sophomore shortstop finished the game 3-for-4 and just a double shy of the cycle. Aubree Barney and Maya Saneishi each had multiple hits and Saneishi scored a pair of runs as well.
Bailey Christensen went the distance in the opener with 3 strikeouts and just a single walk while spreading out 9 hits. She (7-1) picked up her 7th win of the season.
Big Bend 13, Columbia Basin 12
The clutch hitting in the second game came in the form of a Hanna Reid sacrifice fly in the seventh that would prove to be the game-winner. Reid (3-for-4) drove in 4 runs total, scored 3 runs, and finished with two doubles and a home run.

Big Bend 21, Yakima Valley 4
The Vikings opened their doubleheader with Yakima with a 5-inning victory led by lead-off hitter Maya Saneishi who finished hitting 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Lynsey Valverde was the only other player with multiple hits going 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs. Other RBIs came from Hanna Reid, Aubree Barney (2), Taryn Mathews (2), Riley Newbold (2), Courtney Williams, Dakota Egbert (2).
Alyssa Ray picked up the win on the mound going the distance and striking out 3 hitters and scattering 7 hits in the win. It was Ray's (4-1) 4th win of the season.
Big Bend 8, Yakima Valley 3
Big Bend's next game will be at Walla Walla on Tuesday. The doubleheader is scheduled for 2 & 4 p.m.
