Turnovers Sink Big Bend in Costly Loss
Currently riding a three-game skid, the Big Bend Vikings hit the road and made the long trip to Ontario, Oregon, to take on Treasure Valley Community College. Despite the travel, BBCC came out firing on all cylinders early, shooting a blistering 76% from the floor in the first half and carrying a 45–43 lead into halftime.
The momentum shifted after the break. Treasure Valley turned up the pressure in the second half, shooting 64% from the field while the Vikings still connected at a solid 50% clip. Even with efficient shooting, Big Bend couldn't keep pace as the Chukars clawed their way back and pulled away late, handing the Vikings a 94–82 defeat.
Turnovers proved to be the deciding factor. BBCC committed 25 turnovers, which Treasure Valley converted into 30 points. The Chukars also controlled the glass, outscoring the Vikings 16–3 in second-chance points, further swinging the game in their favor.
Sugar Eaton led all Vikings scorers with 25 points on an impressive 11-for-15 shooting performance. Dominik Wojna added 16 points of his own, knocking down seven of his eight shot attempts.
With the loss, Big Bend drops to 2–7 in conference play. The Vikings will look to regroup as they return home to host Columbia Basin College this Wednesday, with tip-off set for 5:00 PM.
