Runnin' Vikes Struggle in Tough Loss to Columbia Basin Hawks

After back-to-back road losses, the Big Bend Runnin' Vikes were eager to return to the win column as they hosted the Columbia Basin College Hawks at the DeVries Activity Center on Saturday, January 18th. However, facing the challenge without their top scorer, Gideon Harris, sidelined with an ankle injury, the Vikings faced an uphill battle from the start.

The first half proved to be a nightmare for the Vikings offensively, as they managed to shoot just 13% from the field, making only 3 of their 24 attempts. The cold shooting, combined with CBC's defensive pressure, left BBCC trailing by a significant margin, 30-8, heading into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, the Vikings showed signs of life, shooting an improved 50% from the field and finding some offensive rhythm. However, the massive first-half deficit proved insurmountable, and BBCC fell to the Hawks by a final score of 61-31.

The tough shooting night for Big Bend was reflected in the stat sheet, as no player was able to crack double digits in scoring. Despite the challenging result, the Vikings will look to regroup and refocus as they prepare for their next game.

BBCC will host the Yakima Valley Yaks on Wednesday, January 22nd, at the DeVries Activity Center. With hopes of snapping their current losing streak, the Runnin' Vikes aim to bounce back and reclaim momentum in front of their home crowd. Fans are encouraged to come out and show their support as the team looks to turn the tide in conference play.
