The Big Bend men's basketball team hopes to bounce back from a slow start to their Northwest Athletic Conference schedule on Wednesday when they play host to East Region opponent Columbia Basin College. After winning four straight games, the Runnin' Vikes have now dropped their last three games including the first two games of the NWAC slate.

On Saturday, the blue and green hosted a hot Spokane team that had started off the season 11-3 and the Vikings trailed by a single point heading into the second half. However, the wheels fell off in the second half as BBCC shot just 27 percent from the field in the second frame (19-of-71 and 8-of-27 from 3-points) and were doubled up on the offensive side by the Bigfoot (12-3, 2-0) for an eventual 86-59 loss.

Denis Ulyanchuk led the Runnin' Vikes with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Kaeler Kahana scored 12 and Payton Nielsen added 10 (8 rebounds).

Big Bend is now 6-10 overall and 0-2 in NWAC East Region play. The Vikings will have the opportunity to get into the win column on Wednesday — Columbia Basin (6-8, 1-1) opened conference play with a loss to Wenatchee Valley (85-69) and a win on Saturday over Blue mountain (86-76).

Wednesday's game will be streamed live on the NWAC Sports Network.
