Runnin' Vikes go 1-2 at Umpqua Invitational

Runnin' Vikes start the season 1-2 at Umpqua Invitational.

ROSEBURG, Ore. — The Big Bend men's basketball team got off to a slow start this weekend competing at the Umpqua Invitational Tournament. The Vikings dropped games to host Umpqua (88-69) and Green River (86-69) before notching a win on Sunday against Simpson JV, 109-48.

Jahvonta' Jones led the Vikings offensively scoring 27, 25 (10 rebs), and 23 (11 rebs) points. Payton Nielsen added a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds against Umpqua with Kaeler Kahana adding 15. Gage Wilson dropped 20 points against Simpson off the bench for the Vikings with Zack Welch and Jonathan Thomas adding 13 and 12 respectively. 

The Vikings won't take the floor again until they head to Skagit Valley for the Turkey Tournament Nov. 29 through Dec. 1. They will face Grays Harbor, host Skagit Valley, and Green River.
