The Big Bend Community College Runnin' Vikes (11-3, 1-2) got into the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) East Region win column on Wednesday night on the road with a convincing 93-67 victory over Columbia Basin College (4-11, 1-2).

BBCC sophomore Joey Anders (Riverton, UT) was the spark that ignited the win as the guard/forward dropped 29 points on 13-of-18 shooting (3-of-4 from 3-point) and pulling down 7 boards.

All of Big Bend's starting five put up double figures in the win over the Hawks with the Viking's backcourt of Koby Huerta (SO; Covington, WA) netting 19 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and dishing out 4 assists; and Seraphin Decker (SO, Las Vegas, NV) adding 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.

BBCC's Mauricio Smith (SO; Las Vegas, NV) had his most complete game since rejoining the team Jan. 2nd putting up a double-double that included 13 points and 14 rebounds. Rounding out the starting five, big man Miles Brown finished the game with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots.

As a team, the Runnin' Vikes shot 55% from the field including 10-of-19 from behind the 3-point arc. The out-rebound Columbia Basin College 55 to 30 which led to 16 second-chance points — the Hawks only managed 2.

Big Bend has had a problem with turnovers early on in conference play, and that was the case again Wednesday night against CBC. The Vikings turned the ball over 14 times, something they will have to work on if they want to keep putting up W's in the NWAC East.

BBCC's next test will come on Saturday when they play host to Yakima Valley on Saturday at home. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. inside the Peter DeVries Center.
